Hello and welcome! I’m Susan, the co-founder and creative force behind SJ Designs. What began as a childhood love for building dollhouses out of cardboard and magazine cutouts with my mom has grown into a lifelong passion for transforming spaces into places of beauty, comfort, and purpose.
With a background in art illustration from the Art Institute of Seattle and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Maine, I bring both an artistic eye and a practical approach to every project. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of designing homes that reflect the unique style and story of each client I work with.
My Approach

A Personal Note
I’m a proud mom of three and grandmother of seven, originally from Maine but now settled in Florida for the past 11 years. My Christian faith is a guiding light in my life and business—it’s where I draw my sense of purpose, integrity, and love for others.
That said, SJ Designs is a welcoming space for everyone. I believe all people deserve a home that feels safe, beautiful, and truly theirs—regardless of their background, beliefs, or identity. If you work with me, you’ll be treated with kindness, respect, and the highest level of professionalism.
